Welcome to Torrance High Track & Field!

The Tartars have been running their track program for over 70 years, starting with the era of Louis Zamperini. Now, the team is roughly 150 people strong, with several skilled and wonderful coaches, including head coach Kyle Irvine entering his 27th year running the program. The team motto: The three D's , Desire, Dedication, Discipline has inspired the team to many accomplishments. The varsity boys and girls were Pioneer League Champs in 2012 first time in school history. There have been league champions in different events and numerous athletes advance to the CIF Prelims and Finals. Since 1999 the following athletes have advanced to the CIF Masters meet: Doug Westphal, Kim Ramirez, Leslie Barrie, Kevin Finney, Oscar Nnoli, Michael Munro, Kent Morikawa, Isaiah Emerson, and Kiana Greer. Doug Westphal was a CIF State Qualifier, in the 800m, placing 11th in 2001, Kevin Finney placed second overall, at the 2003 CIF State Meet, in the long jump, and Kent Morikawa was a CIF State qualifier in the 3200 meters, in 2007.
